Anna Gentry’s experience includes Pipe Stress Analysis on the process piping for the Cartagena Refinery Expansion Project to be constructed for Reficar in Cartagena, Columbia. This project involved the utilization of three-dimensional modeling software to evaluate the stresses and loads experienced systems of piping and associated vessels and equipment. This equipment included pumps, strainers, air coolers, as well as various types of heat exchangers. This analysis was performed alongside piping design and pipe support design to ensure the system functioned properly and complied with the applicable standards.
On systems involving high loads or equipment sensitive to vibration, Anna performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA); primarily using FEPipe ® and NozzlePro ® software. In previous projects she has had exposure to other 3-D modeling and FEA software tools such as Autodesk Inventor ® and NE/Nastran ®.
As a field engineer, she has supported the onsite supervision involved in the construction of five full containment LNG storage tanks for Golden Pass Liquefied Natural Gas (GPLNG) located in Sabine Pass, Texas. This work included: layout, as-builts (to monitor progress) and surveying.
While she worked at GPLNG, the job site was completely flooded by the storm surge generated by Hurricane Ike. In the aftermath, Anna was involved in damage assessment and inspection. She was a member of the team which developed and implemented procedures on how to evaluate and remove the damaged and contaminated materials. Anna performed inspections and the training of additional inspectors. She participated in and supervised the efforts to remove damaged portions of the tanks and to salvage any material not damaged by the exposure to saltwater during Ike’s storm surge.
